What does “Interdenominational Church” mean?
In the case of St Francis Community Church, it means that although we are not part of particular church denomination (legally, we are a Charitable Trust), everyone is welcome as an equal, irrespective of whether they belong to a denomination (e.g. Church or England, Methodist, Baptist, etc) or have no formal church background
Which denominations do have links with?
We have close links with many mainstream Christian denominations, and have visiting ministers and preachers from the Methodist Church – indeed our Assistant Chaplain is Methodist. Also the Church of England – the C of E Churches in our area provide clergy subject to availability and we share resources with them as well as the United Reform Church, Baptist Church and others.
Are you lively or traditional?
A mix of the two. Our Big Breakfast is a highly informal and a lively "Café Church" style with multimedia, our Morning Worship has coffee and biscuits available during the service and our communion services use both the music group and organ.
What does “To Have Christ Inside – To Take Christ Outside” mean?
“To Have Christ Inside” refers to the personal relationship one has with God through Jesus Christ, as a result of one’s Christian faith. “To Take Christ Outside” refers to sharing the availability of this relationship with the community, which we aim to do through how we serve our community and living by example.
What sorts of activities do you provide for the community?
We provide craft activities for children on a Saturday morning (KraftiKids) and at local events such as village fetes. We also host concerts, put on talks, special meals, Ladies Lunches and Men’s Breakfasts (see “Events” sections and “Weekly Notice Sheet”).
Do you provide baptisms?
Yes, for children and adults, generally font-based rather than full immersion. The Certificate of Baptism presented to parents or adult candidates is recognised by most mainstream denominations.
Can you perform marriages?
Yes, we are licensed
Can you perform funerals?
Yes, but not the burials, as we do not have a churchyard. However, there is a churchyard at All Saints Parish Church in Headley Down, a natural burial ground on Grayshott Road and various crematoria in the area.
Is your Hall available for hire?
Yes, please see “Contacts”
